William & Tilda is based in my home studio overlooking Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire, where I create authentic 1940s-inspired accessories. Drawing on timeless sewing techniques and a make do and mend ethos, my work celebrates the ingenuity, resilience, and quiet beauty of the era. Every scrap of fabric finds a purpose, whether in my textile pieces or my workshops — where I love inspiring others to repair, mend, and cherish their garments, helping them continue telling their stories for years to come.

My love of sewing began at home, surrounded by a treasured pattern collection, my grandmother’s exquisite button stash, and childhood afternoons stitching with my godmother, a couture seamstress working for Catherine Walker. These early influences, combined with formal training in fashion design and construction, shaped the maker I am today.

After nearly twenty years working in costume for the BBC, ITV, and a range of independent companies, I developed a deep appreciation for storytelling through fabric — how garments carry memory, meaning, and history. Today, I bring that experience into my own work, creating pieces that honour the women of wartime Britain who originally made and wore them, blending authenticity with sustainability to bring a little piece of the past into the present.
